Springtime Singing Day

Join us for this singing day – a workshop led by Laurel Neighbour who is a dynamic Musical Director and singer , celebrated for her leadership, vocal expertise, and versatility.
She currently directs the Note-orious Community Choir, King’s College London Staff Choir, and London Youth Choir North East, and spent ten years as Musical Director of the London Humanist Choir. Her past roles include Assistant Musical Director for St John of Jerusalem Festival Chorus, and she completed an apprenticeship with the Royal Opera House Thurrock Community Chorus in 2019.
Laurel made her BBC Proms conducting debut in 2019, leading one of eight choirs in John Luther Adams’ In the Name of the Earth at the Royal Albert Hall. Other career highlights include conducting at Twickenham for the Rugby World Cup (2015), Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem with Wokingham Choral Society (2022), and leading an International Women’s Day event for Music in Offices (2024), featured on ITV News.
A passionate advocate for music education, Laurel works as a Choral Animateur for St Paul’s Cathedral, working in primary schools across the Diocese of London. She has led school projects for The Sixteen and the Voces8 Foundation, as well as massed singing events for Music Education Islington, and held educational roles with Dartford Choral Outreach, Southwark Music, Voices Foundation, and ARK Inspiring Excellence Programmes.
Since 2015, Laurel has collaborated with Gareth Malone, supporting projects such as Hornsey Sings and The Great British Home Chorus. She is currently a vocalist and instrumentalist on his annual Singalong-a-Gareth tours (2022–).
